Our Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Test is available from 7 weeks of pregnancy. It analyses fetal DNA found naturally in the mother's blood, so it needs only a standard blood sample from the mother and a cheek swab from the possible father. There is no risk to the pregnancy.

Collect the samples

A trained professional takes a standard blood sample from the mother. The possible father provides a simple cheek swab. Separate appointments can be arranged so parties never need to meet.

Samples are analysed by ISO 17025 accredited partner laboratories. Results are reported as a statistical probability and explained in plain English.

Need the result for court or another official body? Personal and legal prenatal routes follow different collection requirements. Tell us before booking and we will confirm the right route.
A note on transparency. In a small number of cases a prenatal result can come back inconclusive, for example when the level of fetal DNA in the mother's blood is not yet high enough. A conclusive result is therefore not guaranteed at the first attempt. If this happens we will tell you straight away and talk you through the next steps.

Want to know the baby's sex too? A gender reveal test can be added to your prenatal booking. Mention it when we confirm your appointment.

  • Is it safe? Yes. Collection uses a standard maternal blood draw and a cheek swab. It does not require amniocentesis or CVS, so there is no risk to the pregnancy.
  • How accurate is it? Results are reported as a statistical probability by the laboratory. When the tested man is not the biological father, the result excludes him conclusively.
  • Does he have to know? The possible father provides his own sample and must consent to testing. Separate appointments can be arranged so you never need to meet.
  • Is it confidential? Genetic data is special-category data under UK GDPR. Details, samples and results are stored securely and released only to you.
