How international cases work

two countries.

A typical case: a father in the UK is applying for a visa for his child overseas. We collect the father's sample here, and arrange for the child's sample to be professionally collected at an approved facility in their own country. Because this is a legal DNA test, no one may collect their own sample. Professional collection at every location protects the chain of custody and prevents any question of tampering.

  • Which relationships can be tested? Paternity is the most common, and maternity, grandparentage, aunt or uncle and sibling tests are available when a parent cannot be tested.
  • Can the overseas person use a home kit? No. Immigration tests are legal tests, so every sample must be professionally collected and documented. Self-collected samples cannot be accepted.
  • How long does it take? Laboratory results are ready within 3 to 5 working days of all valid samples arriving. Overall timing depends on the overseas collection appointment and courier transit.
  • Why is there no fixed price? Overseas collection fees, couriers and the number of people tested vary by case, so we confirm a single total quote before you commit.
